The owners of an existing 2 storey home in the Junction sought to open up the main floor space; creating a stronger, visual connection between the kitchen and dining areas while achieving a contemporary aesthetic. Innovative storage solutions were developed to provide the clients with a highly functional open concept plan. Meaningful existing furnishings and light fixtures were incorporated into the new design in order to keep aspects of the clients’ existing home intact.
Little Italy Residence
This project involved an overhaul of an existing Little Italy row house, to provide the owners with a more contemporary expression and space layout. One of the more prominent aspects of the project is the private balcony located off the master bedroom. The contemporary guard design provides privacy for the occupants, and makes a strong visual statement and modern ‘curb appeal’.
This project involves demolishing an older portion of an existing cottage and constructing a new, contemporary addition. The addition provides the main living space of the home -- a great room, with distinct living, dining and kitchen areas, organized around a large fireplace and double-height space. The two-storey screened porch can be incorporated into the living space in warm weather by folding back a series of sliding doors. The home’s exterior, while modest at the front, opens up with views to the lake through floor-to-ceiling windows.
