NON-ACUTE HEALTHCARE
NL Health Services Ambulatory Health Hub
G architects is served as the lead architectural consultant for the transformation of a former Costco warehouse into a state-of-the-art ambulatory health hub in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Commissioned by NL Health Services, this ambitious project reimagines a 100,000 square foot commercial facility as a modern centre for outpatient care located in close proximity to the Health Sciences Centre.
The vision for the hub is to expand access to high-quality clinical services while reducing pressure on hospital campuses. The facility will house medical clinics, office spaces, imaging suites including two MRIs, and surgical procedure rooms, all tailored to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the community. Designed with functionality, efficiency, and patient dignity at the forefront, the project demonstrates how adaptive reuse can create cost-effective, sustainable healthcare infrastructure that is fully aligned with clinical and operational requirements.
Currently under construction, the Ambulatory Health Hub is a model for future-ready healthcare delivery in Newfoundland and Labrador. Working closely with NL Health Services, G architects is prioritizing seamless integration with surrounding infrastructure, high-performing building systems, and architectural strategies that combine technical precision with a welcoming, patient-centered environment.
