Broadview Long-Term Care

RESIDENTIAL CARE & AGING • LONG-TERM CARE

G architects led the redevelopment of Broadview Long-Term Care in Smiths Falls, Ontario. The project replaces the existing 75-bed Broadview Nursing and Retirement Centre and its adjoining Retirement Lodge with a new, purpose-built 128-bed home designed to meet the Province’s Aging with Confidence strategy.

Located on a greenfield site within the historic town of Smiths Falls, the new one-storey, 80,000 square foot home is organized into four 32-bed Resident Home Areas that embody the Resident Home Area concept. Each household provides home-like living, dining, and activity spaces with direct access to secure outdoor courtyards, fostering community, comfort, and familiarity. Central shared amenities, including a multipurpose room, café, hair salon, and dedicated spiritual space, enhance the home’s sense of connection and well-being. The design emphasizes daylight, accessibility, and sensory comfort, creating an environment that supports dignity, independence, and choice for residents.

The home’s landscaped courtyards and outdoor gathering areas include accessible walking paths, garden planters, and seating spaces that encourage interaction and daily engagement with nature. Construction began in August 2023 through the Ministry of Long-Term Care’s Enhanced Funding program and is being delivered through a Construction Management model. Once complete, the new Broadview LTC Home will provide modern, compassionate, and efficient care for 128 residents.
