Long-Term Care

Currently under construction in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Valley View Villa represents a forward-thinking approach to long-term care, rooted in the innovative "small house" model. Designed to foster a more intimate, home-like setting for residents, the project reflects a deep collaboration between our design team and the client’s operational leadership to prioritize both resident safety and staff efficiency.

Throughout the facility, staff support spaces are seamlessly integrated into the residential environment. These areas are strategically located to ensure clear sightlines, enabling caregivers to monitor residents discreetly while maintaining the warm, non-institutional feel of the space. Residents enjoy the dignity and privacy of individual bedrooms, each designed to feel personal, comfortable, and accessible.

The project broke ground in spring 2025 and is anticipated to welcome its first residents in 2027, setting a new standard for person-centered care in Atlantic Canada.

Green House Design Elements: While the design aligns with Nova Scotia’s standard for 24-bed households, it is thoughtfully organized into two 12-bed Green House-inspired neighbourhoods per household. Each neighbourhood functions as a self-contained unit, featuring its own dining area, living lounge, assisted bathing room, and internal wandering route.
