Village Green Long-Term Care Home
RESIDENTIAL CARE & AGING • LONG-TERM CARE
G architects is leading the redevelopment of Village Green, a 128-bed, for-profit long-term care home located in Napanee, Ontario. The project transforms the existing facility through a comprehensive addition and modernization, aligning the home with current Ministry of Long-Term Care design standards and strengthening resident experience within a contemporary, community-focused setting.
The two-storey, 62,400 sqaure foot redevelopment expands and reorganizes the home into four 32-bed Resident Home Areas designed around smaller, household-style living clusters. Shared dining, lounge, and activity spaces anchor each home area, supporting familiarity, dignity, and independence while improving staff workflow and operational clarity. Natural light, warm materials, and intuitive wayfinding shape a calm, residential atmosphere that balances clinical performance with comfort. The building’s exterior expression introduces durable, modern materials that unify new and existing components with a refreshed identity. Site improvements include secure landscaped courtyards, barrier-free pathways, and reconfigured parking and drop-off areas to better serve residents, staff, and visitors.
Delivered within a for-profit operating model, the redevelopment demonstrates how strategic design can modernize an aging long-term care home to meet contemporary standards of safety, accessibility, and resident-centred care.
