G architects is a dynamic and expanding architectural practice based in downtown Toronto, with an office in Kingston.

Since our establishment in 2014, we've been dedicated to designing spaces that prioritize the needs of vulnerable populations. Our core sectors include seniors’ living, mental health treatment, non-acute healthcare environments, as well as life sciences, commercial, retail, and higher education projects.

  • G architects is a vibrant and growing practice, with its head office located in downtown Toronto and a site office in Kingston. Our core sectors are seniors’, retirement and Long-term Care, mental health treatment, and non-acute healthcare environments. Our work also includes life sciences, commercial, retail and post-secondary projects.

    Our studio environment encourages our team member’s professional growth and development through encouraging independence and autonomy, balanced with mentoring and support.

    The Position:

    G architects depends on Architects to lead/ support teams and carry out projects and elements of projects; generally under the supervision of Senior Architects and Partners. Architects collaborate with others to design, execute and deliver great work that reflects G architects’ brand, design ethos, and technical capabilities. They are expected to consult with Senior Architects and the project team to solve design, technical, production, scope or client issues. The firm relies on Architects to develop excellent working relationships with clients, colleagues in the studio, consultants, and contractors. Project Architects are required to manage their project time, and meet the firm’s targets for deadlines and deliverables.

    Architects report to Senior Architects and Partners, or others as assigned.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conceive and design elements of moderate complexity, from design development to closeout

    • Strive for design impact through innovative and functional design

    • Use software and other tools creatively to enhance design, when appropriate

    • Develop high-quality components of drawing and documentation sets that are clear, accurate, comprehensive, and consistent

    • Strive to reduce rework, errors, and omissions

    • Initiate opportunities to increase the firm’s design capabilities

    • Proactively share design knowledge with other team members

    • Contribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design, technical quality, or client service

    • Create sound relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and suppliers to promote repeat business

    • Use software to deliver assignments on time and on budget

    • Demonstrate excellent time management skills

    • Planning, tracking, budgeting and reporting on staff resources and project profitability

    Qualifications:

    Requirements

    • Working knowledge of Revit software

    • Strong written and spoken English language skills, and interpersonal skills

    • Registered Intern Architect or Architect with Ontario Association of Architects

    • Up to date COVID vaccination record

    • The place of work is our Kingston office

    Additional Assets

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, or Sketchup

    • Working knowledge of Project Management software (i.e. Wrike)

    • Work experience in a mid-sized Architect’s office

    • Work experience with institutional, life sciences or healthcare projects

    The Position:

    G architects relies on the Construction Contract Administrator to monitor and manage the construction administration of a number of projects for the firm. While the Construction Contract Administrator duties will be performed with direction from the Partners, they will be Partners’ delegated authority to clients and key contact for projects under construction. They should have a strong background in architecture and construction administration. They should have passion for design excellence with excellent technical knowledge, communication and interpersonal skills.

    Working with the Partners and Project Architects, the Construction Contract Administrator will aid in the development of staff skills and ensure that standards are met through appropriate supervision and effective quality assurance. Construction Contract Administrator will work independently and with the Partners to support design teams and ensure high-quality technical standards and deliverables.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the monitoring and management of projects at all levels of complexity from construction through closeout, both in the field and in the office, to achieve and enhance project design objectives

    • Inspire the confidence of clients and team members through technical knowledge and solutions

    • Actively contribute to the design dialogue in the firm

    • Ensure high-quality drawings and documentation sets and client service practices to reduce rework, errors, and omissions

    • Create sound relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers

    • Act as key contact to clients and consultants for projects under construction

    • Manage projects to achieve client objectives and firm targets

    • Demonstrate excellent time management skills

    Qualifications:

    Requirements

    • Working knowledge of Revit software

    • Experience in Cloud-based Contract Administration software (i.e. Rform)

    • Strong written and spoken English language skills, and interpersonal skills

    • The place of work is either our Toronto office or Kingston site office

    • Valid G driver’s license

    Additional Assets

    • Demonstrated experience in Construction Contract Administration on medium to large, complex construction projects

    • Training in Construction Administration

    • Working knowledge of the current Ontario Building Code

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam

    • Working knowledge of Project Management software (i.e. Wrike)

    • Working experience in a mid-sized Architect’s office

    • Registered Architect with Ontario Association of Architects or Architectural Technologist with Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario
