Cornwall — In a significant stride towards enhancing long-term care facilities in Cornwall, construction has officially kicked off at Ted Laurier Place.

Ted Laurier Place is a 128-bed residential facility located in Cornwall, set to replace the Sandfield Place home. The new one-story building is designed with the utmost care and attention to detail, featuring significant upgrades to enhance the quality of life for its residents. It will offer 75 new beds and upgrade 53 existing beds, all thoughtfully designed to cater to various needs and preferences. With both private and basic room options, residents will have choices that suit their individual preferences and requirements.

The new facility will include numerous design improvements, such as larger resident common areas and comprehensive air conditioning throughout the home. Secure and beautifully landscaped courtyards will provide serene spaces for both residents and visitors, with elder-friendly paths and features, as well as planters for resident gardening enthusiasts. Ted Laurier Place will be organized into four distinct areas, each designed to create intimate and familiar living spaces for up to 32 residents. These areas will feature dining and activity spaces, cozy lounges, and comfortable bedrooms, promoting a sense of belonging and community.

The new home is expected to be completed and welcoming its first residents in late 2025.
