Smith Falls – Construction is underway on a new building for Broadview Nursing Home, a long-term care home being redeveloped in Smiths Falls. The existing Broadview Nursing and Retirement Centre is a 75-bed licensed long term care home with a Retirement Lodge attached, located in the historical town of Smiths Falls in Eastern Ontario. Broadview has been granted an additional 53 bed licenses, allowing the new facility to be organized into a 128-bed home with four, 32-bed Resident Home Areas.

The new facility will be a one storey building with no basement, located on a currently wooded greenfield site on Pearl St. between Davis Dr. and Percy St. on the south side of Smiths Falls. The new site is located within 10 minutes of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital and is easily accessible for visitors near Highways 15, 29, and 43.

The new Broadview LTC Home will provide Long-term Care accommodation, in a modern, home-like environment which embodies the Resident Home Area Concept, and supports the Provinces’ Aging with Confidence strategy. The philosophy of the design and model of care is to encourage dignity, independence, and choice, in a familiar, residential environment.

The redevelopment of Broadview Nursing Home is expected to be completed and welcoming its first residents in spring 2025. This upgraded home will help Ontario address the growing demand for long-term care, which has increased wait times for beds and contributed to hallway health care.
