St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School Daycare Addition

In 2018, G, Rivard, and JRHE were engaged to design a child care centre as an addition to the existing St. Joseph Elementary School in South Porcupine, Ontario. Leveraging our strong relationship with the YMCA and the Northeastern Catholic District School Board and our understanding of their needs from prior collaborations, our team translated the stakeholders’ program into a thoughtfully designed space. The daycare, with a capacity for 50 children, seamlessly integrates play areas with support spaces to enhance staff efficiency while providing an engaging and nurturing environment for children. The design received excellent feedback from local Ministry representatives for its creativity and functionality.

Despite initial delays due to budgetary constraints and fluctuating construction costs during the pandemic, the project resumed in 2023 and reached completion in November 2024. Our collaborative approach fostered accountability among team members, resulting in a smooth permit approval process, efficient project documentation, and timely completion.
